The long awaited week has finally arrived, and the Miss Teenage Canada National Pageant has started! I am not all that nervous, but more so excited – this is going to be such a new experience for me, but I am sure that the exposure to such distinctive territory will only benefit me and help me grow as a person.
To start my day, I woke up, brushed my teeth, washed my face and moisturized. I headed on to the kitchen to make a cappuccino, and had some downtime before the hectic week ahead had started. As soon as I was done my coffee, I grabbed my makeup, and started getting ready.
Each of the delegates were required to take a rapid antigen test for COVID-19, no more than 24 hours before arrival to our host hotel in Ontario. I had my appointment booked for the morning of the pageant, and this was the only “event” that I was nervous for on day 1 – I had never been tested for COVID-19 before and I was quite nervous, but in all honesty, the swab test wasn’t as bad as I had expected it to be!
I was on the road to Barrie by about 2:20 pm, and that’s when it all started to feel real – I was about to spend a fun and busy week alongside various other gorgeous delegates from across all of Canada.
At around 4:00 pm, I made it to our host hotel, and checked in. I waited for about 2 hours before my gorgeous roommate arrived, which gave me little bit of time to myself and time to unpack my luggage. My roommate’s name is Chloe, and she is your Miss Teenage Cariboo 2021! She comes all the way from British Colombia; amazing, right?
Chloe and I sat in our room for a little while until we were instructed on what to do next. In the meantime, we got to know each other a bit better.
At around 6:00 pm, it was time for dinner, and all 40 of the delegates headed to the dining room to eat and meet each other. We all had an incredibly fun evening together with the PJ party that our pageant director had planned out for us!
We were severed pizza for dinner, sang karaoke, introduced ourselves to each other, and even got some beautiful merchandise to represent Miss Teenage Canada!
I think that the gifts we received are wonderful reminders and keepsakes of this once in a lifetime experience that we are about to embark on.
Day 1 was amazing. It ended with a little bit of calmness, satisfaction; getting to know my roommate even better, and excitingly preparing for Day 2.
