Dear Younger Self,
You are going to experience many wonderful things in life but you will also come across some roadblocks. Don’t let anyone stand in your way from your goals, be confident.
Sometimes you’ll get called names and you won’t always fit in but always embrace your culture and don’t be afraid to be yourself. Be proud of who you are and where you came from.
Apart from that, you might get an interest in sports but please be careful when you play volleyball. You don’t want to end up with your arm in a cast for two months! Trust me, I speak with experience. On the other hand, if sports aren’t your thing I think you should build the courage to follow your dreams and compete in a pageant. You will meet so many wonderful new friends and learn a lot.
Furthermore, if you do decide to enter in a pageant, I suggest you start volunteering and getting involved in your community. Stop binge watching Gossip Girl and go volunteer at the FoodBank. You’ll also enjoy volunteering at the old age home, they’ll tell you interesting stories and help you gain more of an appreciation for life.
Above all, always do what you enjoy rather than what is available to you. Try to find a job that really interests you and don’t let anyone take advantage of you. I think you will be better at working with children rather than folding clothes! Trust me, you will love making slime!
While you’re having fun chasing your dreams and working hard, just know that it won’t always be easy and it is okay if you get rejected. Don’t try to change yourself by wearing hair extensions or dying your hair because a modelling agency turned you down. Find happiness in your own skin and don’t try to change.
On a good note, you will not believe when I tell you that you will be wearing a beautiful red mermaid dress on a stage in front of a large audience and you’ll get a crown! You will have a big responsibility but I believe in you. I know you have a good head on your shoulders and have the potential to reach any goal you set for yourself. I hope you make a positive difference in the world.
Lastly, I want to give you three pieces of advice. Firstly, stay humble. Know that you are not better than anyone else, but are different. Be thankful for the opportunities you are given. Secondly, be passionate. Make your dreams into reality and do what excites you. Lastly, be your own kind of beautiful. I’ll let you figure out what that is.
Enjoy the ride,
