Hey everyone! I haven’t posted in awhile. With everything that’s happening, it’s hectic. I am overwhelmed!

On Canada day, I had the honour to attend the annual Canada Day event in Vaughan at the North Maple Regional Park. There were many performers such as Delaney Jane and Magic! I had the pleasure of meeting the members of Magic! and we got to discuss my a little bit about the Miss Teenage Canada pageant. Halfway through the event, the mayor of Vaughan, Maurizio Bevilacqua, visited the stage and spoke a little bit about the environment and next steps for Vaughan.

Maple Community Church

Friends I met during my volunteering!
The entire group!

I dedicated about 2 hours of my time to volunteer for the Maple Community Church and met so many young people with a mission ahead of them. I met people around my age and got to know each of them.

It’s so amazing seeing my community come together as a whole is so heartwarming and inspiring. The volunteers from the church invited me to their church and asked if I would be a guest speaker. I definitely said yes and will perform a short speech regarding my platform of diversity and what I plan on achieving during my reign as Miss Teenage York Region.

My Speech

I was given the opportunity to speak on the stage for a brief time, just to introduce myself and all the different vendors at the event. Unfortunately, I was not able to speak about my platform, I still was able to speak in front of over 10,000 people which helped me improve my public speaking a lot.

After my speech, I walked around to each booth and had the honour to speak to a few honourees and representatives of other vendors. This one, in particular, was hosted by TD Bank, which is the official sponsor for the event. I had a ton of fun talking to everyone and I got to talk a little bit about my platform and charity.

Magic!

Magic! was absolutely a dream to see. Their performance was filled with so much passion and heart. They started their show with Rude, their most popular song, and ended it off with Don’t Kill The Magic; both fun songs! I sang my heart out and danced with local citizens during both of these songs!

After intermission, I noticed a familiar pattern that the drummer was playing, it was Come Together by The Beatles. This song has a very special meaning to me as it was one of the very first songs I learned on the drums! It gave me so much nostalgia and I was having a blast singing every single word.

At the end of the show, I got to meet each member and had a short conversation with the drummer, Alex Vincent, and the lead singer, Nasri. They were both super nice and was willing to take photos with my parents and including my dog! Alex followed me back on Instagram and continued the rest of our conversation.

Although I was not able to fundraise money at this event, I still made a ton of connections that would help me in the long run. It was super fun and I enjoyed every song Magic! performed. I only hope one day I can be up on that stage speaking on behalf of what I believe in.

It’s been a long time since I had fun like this with my parents, my dog, and everybody else in the community. I hope next year I am able to get up on that stage and do a little performance myself! 🙂 So until next year, Vaughan! – Miss Teenage York Region
